HWVA Statement to Members

Dear Member/s

The HWVA held a remote AGM via Zoom on Saturday 18 July 2020 and complied in full with the guidance given by the Kennel Club.

Their recommendation is that remote AGMs cannot be held with the full membership invited to take part as this would exclude any without internet access. The option of taking questions on agenda items and allowing voting to the entire membership is seen as a good compromise when face to face meetings can’t take place.

Notice of our intention was sent to all members on the 20 June together with voting slips for agenda items which were to be returned by the cut off date of 16 July.

No member rejected this (AGM by Zoom) by that date.

We are very pleased that the number of members who voted far exceeded the number of attendees that the meeting usually attracts and that we now have a full committee.

We have been asked to give a full explanation of the recent resignations. The HWVA is GDPR compliant and is therefore restricted in what it can convey to its members about other members.

So, in brief;

Two committee members were found to be ineligible for election because they were not fully paid up members by 1 March 2020. (HWVA Rule 9 refers)

The Officers acknowledge that the matter was badly handled and it is a matter of regret that subsequently it resulted in some members tendering their resignations.

All parties involved were invited to attend a Zoom meeting on Thursday evening the 24 June to discuss the matter and find a way forward. Sadly, all but one declined the invitation.

The new Committee is currently in the process of writing a Code of Conduct for Committee Members the purpose of which is to maintain high standards of conduct, assist committee members in their roles and protect the best interests of The Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla Association. All Committee Members are expected to sign up to this Code.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. My numbers are

01709 760124 and 07970 634780.

Yours sincerely,

Christine Morgan
