HWVA Working Test 8th September 2012

The HWVA Working Test took place at Margaret’s Lake, Widmerpool, Notts on Saturday 8th September 2012 by very kind permission of K Scattergood and Messrs Brooks

A total of 76 entries, a record breaking 28 of which were HWVs! The weather was glorious and the competitors and judges were in fine spirits alike.

HWVA Grouse Pointing Test Birchinlee Derbys 17th March 2012

The HWVA Grouse Pointing Test was held on Saturday 17th March 2012 on Birchinlee Moor, DERBYS by very kind permission of David Briggs and Alistair Lee. Judges were Eddie Kania and Paul MacDonald.

14 HWVs in total from a card of 18 dogs was truly amazing!

Game: Grouse,Pheasant,Hare

Weather: Overcast, Mild, 1 shower

Scenting conditions: Good

Report and grading:

Excellent – Seehof Emma GSP (B) Handler: Robert Irvine   This 3 year old GSP hunted a cheek wind with great pace and width quickly came on point at distance on a pair of grouse that produced them self’s the dog was very steady hunting on ran into a ditch pushed her nose up the other side and went on point produced on command 2 pairs of grouse again the dog was very steady hunted on pulled in from distance on a pair of grouse that lifted as the dog was about to point again the dog was steady.

Excellent -Madcap Cactus Wren GSP (B) Handler: Sue Hastwell   This 21 month GSP hunted a cheek wind with fast pace good distance always on wind taking scent without dwelling, at distance came on point and on command produced a pair of golden plover from about 40 yards off the dogs nose the dog was very steady hunted on again with fast pace pulled in from around 60 yards came on point and 2 pairs of grouse produced them self’s again the dog was very steady.

Very Good – Zoldmali Iram HWV (D) Handler: Jim Cooper   1st run- This 5 year old HWV hunted a head wind with a fast pace taking lots of ground always on wind came on to a grouse at distance but lifted before the dog could point it the dog was steady 2nd run-hunted a back wind very well with good pace flash pointing a grouse hunted on quickly came on point and produced a grouse the dog was very steady.

Very Good- Firefrost Enchantress HWV Handler Hazel Drew   This 21 month old HWV hunted a cheek wind with good pace covering lots of ground always on wind The dog flash pointed a grouse at distance and was very steady hunted on again with good pace pulled in from distance on a grouse as the dog set itself a grouse lifted the dog remained steady hunted on quickly came on point produced on command a cock pheasant the dog was very steady.

Very Good – Moricroft My Choice HWV (B) Handler: Michael Caine   This 30 month old HWV Hunted a cheek wind with a fast pace taking lots of ground came on point on command produced a pair of grouse the dog was steady hunted on and quickly came onto a grouse that lifted as the dog was about to point it hunted on and came on point on a pair of grouse that produced tham selfs the dog was steady

Good – Hejocsabai Taltos at Gonegos HWV (D) Handler: Roy Bebbington   This 21 month old HWV hunted a head wind with good pace covering lots of ground the dog came on point and on command produced a hare the dog was very steady hunted on into a small gully and came on point on a single grouse the dog again was very steady.
