Novice Trial
Following many days of rain and storms across the country this day started and continued with sunshine and big blue skies, a perfect end to the Trialling season. We are so grateful to William Thornhill and the Haverholme Estate for their continued support for the HWVA; Keeper Nigel, guns Philip, Gary, Andy and Tristran and game carrier, the young Jake at his first HPR trial . More than grateful to picking up dog Carl Isitt who also helps us with logistics and arrangements locally and to Rupert (Zafar) volunteering to be our red flag. Thanks also to our Judges, Steve Robson and Christine Carpenter, for their excellent work, they were pleased to make the following awards:
4th Madagascar Madge via Valkaiser handled by Julie King .. HWV
COM CH Enryb Simply Red handled by Jean Byrne .. HWV
And the guns award to:
Avar Hunter Danube Flovakia handled by Adele Zafar for his very stylish point. HV
It was lovely to see all gingers in the awards.

Grouse Experience Day
In July we held a grouse experience day at East Arkengarthdale followed by a Grouse Pointing test at Hawnby Moor.
The grouse experience day was super. The weather was changeable but the dogs ran well and it was lovely to see several young dogs who were on a moor for the first time and showed good improvement!

Grouse Pointing Test
We had a really fabulous day on the most amazing moor. Luckily the rain held off and we enjoyed glorious sunshine for most of the morning.
The scenting conditions were challenging from the outset, all of the dogs had opportunities to shine, their hunting was mostly brilliant, their brakes sometimes less so!
We were pleased to announce one award:
Cadanbyrig Snow Dancer, handled by Frances Smart – Graded Good
Thank you to Annie Jones and Mac Mattravers for judging the test.
Thank you once again Nick Gardner, Dave Akk, Francis Briley & Laura De Jong for their help.
